Katie Golombek is a director, actor, and costume designer. She has directed the one-act plays The Absolutely True Story as told by a Bunch of Lying Liars and Wake Up Call, for local Bellingham audiences, family and friends.

As an actor, Katie has acted in numerous productions ranging from Nightmare Before Christmas and Pippi Longstocking to Urinetown the Musical and Big Fish. On the stages of Squalicum High School and the Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth she played a variety of roles from old cranky women to little boys in productions big and small, comedic and dramatic.

As a costume designer, she worked under the previous costume director Dana Crediford. She has experience working with all sorts of plays and musicals each equipped with their own unique challenges. Her costume design work was particularly notable when the Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth did Pippin the Musical, where the lead costume designer had a family emergency two weeks leading up to the shows. Katie had to complete the design and execution herself. Another notable experience working with this non-profit was in fall of 2024, when she designed and executed costumes for Jack and Jill and the Beanstalk primarily on her own. This production held four casts with 25 kids in each. Katie was then asked by the same non-profit to design another show in the coming winter quarter called Snoring Beauty.

As a writer and producer, Katie has worked with a group of other students at BAAY to write, produce, design, costume, and light our own original productions. Katie was involved when they put on their original comedy/drama musical of The Vamoose and the dramatic horror play of Under The Bed.

When she can, Katie also occasionally volunteers at BAAY to do house management and ticket sales. She has also done house management at the New Prospect Theatre in downtown Bellingham.

​

In November of 2022, she was given an award for Outstanding performance in a supporting role, for her role as Vera in the play, She Kills Monsters.

Katie is currently on the call list for the Iatse 887 Theatrical Wardrobe Union.
